Ship Background

The Cove battlecruiser is an extraordinary long-range firepower ship, with outstanding overall performances. The Dawn Navy refers to it as the ""Hornet"" due to its unique appearance. It was one of the masterpieces of the Blackwood Research Institute, which was built in 872 AG. The Cove was rolled out in 883 AG, granting the Blackwood Research Institute instant recognition.

The development of Cove came after the Hundred Years' War between the Dawn and Glick-A. The Dawn invaded Glick-A, ultimately causing a ""restoration movement"" in Glick-A in 881 AG (the participants there became the Glick Restoration Army after the country perished). The Dawn was hoping to quell the insurrection soon before inciting public opposition or denunciation from other states (especially the emperor's direct seigniory of Titan Empire II), in order to protect its own vested interests and to further control Glick-A. That was the reason behind the Cove project. This project was given to the mysterious Blackwood Research Institute, in an attempt to replace the unstable Tea firepower battlecruiser.

The head of Blackwood was well aware of the government's real needs. He didn't just take the mainstream route of simply making improvements on the Tea, and was dedicated to developing a ship with long-range firepower advantages. That was where his brilliance shone through. He was clearly aware that a ship with the firepower to conduct assassinations best fit the government's needs. It was thanks to the Cove battlecruiser that the Dawn was able to eradicate the leaders of the ""restoration movement"" without drawing attention, and then quell the insurrection after a series of maneuvers.

After Galactic War IV, Blackwood Research Institute equipped the Cove with a Micro Pulsing Wormhole Generator to make up for its weak maneuverability and survivability, but could not do anything about its disastrous controls and weak armor. So if it doesn't receive help from its allies, the Cove battlecruiser can face a plethora of problems.

It is now equipped with onboard Light Sensing Fire Control Radar Arrays which increases the ship's effective firepower output by using optical images to increase firing distance. This component made the long-range firepower of the Cove battlecruiser even stronger.
