Ship Background

The Loch battlecruiser is the modern version of the Lagoon battlecruiser. It performs excellently and is a main firepower provider on the battlefield.

In 1048 AG, Project Loch was first talked about in the ECD Joint Defense Department Meeting. To answer the request of the Great Council for an upgraded ship, the ECD tried to find a feasible plan through public bidding, but none of the schemes submitted could meet the demands of the Joint Defense Department. The ECD had no choice but to self-develop the ship.

Their competitors, especially Crowley Industries Inc., Kabbalah Industrial Group, and Damocles Group, complained that the ECD was chosen over them for no apparent reason. Due to the huge trade surplus of the ECD to other countries, the ECD compromised when it was forced by Neo-Europa, Oracle Empire and the United Solar Systems of Hygara to give up this project.

In 1049 AG, the Defense Agency modified the performance requirements of the ship. Competitors of all countries were thus able to submit a new scheme. In the same year, the Joint Defense Department announced the new ship would be an enhanced version of the Lagoon. But the Department also said the ship could be fully self-developed.

For this reason, the Loch was actually a project of Ebony Research Institution. Dating back to 1043 AG,a series of tentative schemes for technology upgrades were already applied to the Loch's development. Other than the photosensory fire-control radar array and the micro propulsion wormhole generator which had been used in the previous model, the ship rolled new-type compound materials, high maneuverability, fire-control technology, and an integrated EW system all into one. But due to its high price, regardless of small patent fee charged by the Institution, only a limited number of armies could be fully equipped with this ship. The Aurora Task Force was one of these armies.
