Casters at the ready! Here’s our guide to taking down Ice Dragon Asante!

2019-04-11 22:07:38

The Ice Dragon is the only dragon in the Goddess Trial that deals magic damage, so you’ll need to stack as much MDEF as you can.

Lineup Requirements

Tank

First Choice - Ledin

Pair him with Zealots or other Holy soldiers.
Skills: Vindication and Divine Guard

Healers - We recommend choosing two of the following:

Liana: Move Again

Tiaris: Healing Light

Sophia: Rewind

Damage Dealers - We recommend choosing two of the following:

Chris: Discipline & Redemption

Lana: Dark Reaper & MDEF Intimidate

Almeda: Holy Word

Clock is the best enchantment for your entire team.

[Bear in mind that Bozel is also well-suited to taking on the Ice Dragon!]

Stat Requirements

As you’ll be facing dragons of different levels, there are no specific level requirements for taking them on. However, there are three factors you should consider when fighting the Ice Dragon:

1.      Your tank’s MDEF should not be higher than that of your two damage dealers. This is to ensure that the Ice Dragon’s AoE skill focuses on Ledin without affecting the damage output of your damage dealers.

2.      Your tank needs to be able to withstand the Ice Dragon’s AoE attack and the boss’s minions without dying.

3.      Your team needs to be able to deal enough damage to take down the boss within the turn limit.

In-depth Strategy

Clearing Minions

Ledin isn’t strong enough to tank all of the minions at once, so pull as few as you can at a time.

As you can see in the picture, Ledin stands outside the danger zone, while Tiaris rides one block into the danger zone to pull only a Lobster and a Leviathan to reduce pressure on the tank.

Clearing the other minions isn’t too difficult – just deal as much damage as you can to clear them as soon as possible and prepare to face the boss.

Facing the Ice Dragon

Ledin should stand in the position shown in the picture, so he can exit and enter the danger zone. Your other heroes should be two blocks from Ledin, as the Ice Dragon will use its AoE skill even when approached by a single hero. Let Ledin take a round of damage first, and then your entire team can start to put the pressure on the Ice Dragon from the next turn onward.

Follow-up Positions (Key Points)

Chris should stand in the position shown in the picture to deal damage while avoiding being hit by the boss’s AoE skill. If your other heroes’ MDEF is lower than Ledin’s, they shouldn’t enter the Ice Dragon’s range!

If a hero’s MDEF is higher than Ledin’s, they should enter the danger zone. Make sure there are no allies within a 2-block range of them, as the Ice Dragon will prioritize hitting multiple targets when selecting a target for its next attack, and then prioritize hitting the target with the lowest MDEF.

(There’s no need to have a healer standing inside the danger zone, so make sure you keep them standing outside!)

Remember that the Ice Dragon uses its AoE skill every other turn!

Damage-Dealer Positions

Chris and Lana have their own self-healing effects, and the range of Liana’s Prayer is sufficiently large, so you just need to move your damage dealers slowly to the right of the Ice Dragon. You could actually place a damage dealer two blocks above the ice dragon if their self-healing is high enough, with Ledin trying his best to maintain his position below or on the left, for the convenience of your healers. Always remember that their MDEF needs to be higher than Ledin’s, and there should be no allies within 2 blocks of them.

Stand in position and slowly wear the Ice Dragon down, while healing Ledin after each AoE attack.

Ice Dragon FAQ

What should I do if Ledin’s MDEF is too high?

Depending on the stats of your damage dealers, you can consider leaving them in place to withstand the Ice Dragon’s AoE attack, or take them out of range during the AoE round, however, this will disrupt the rhythm of your damage, and you won’t be able to benefit from Ledin’s counterattack damage, so this will put more pressure on your damage dealers overall.

Can I use a different tank?

Sure, as long as your replacement tank is tough enough, however, they should not try to attack the dragon, as being frozen is not how your tank wants to spend this battle (and this effect cannot be dispelled), plus the Ice Dragon takes reduced damage from melee attacks.

Lana isn’t affected by Ledin’s Fusion Buff!

Try using Almeda with Monks + Quip Master for a powerful combination capable of taking down the Ice Dragon, or use a Faction-Buffed Liana to take on Lana’s role as a damage dealer!
