Ship Background

The Komodo frigate has extraordinary defense components, possesses some advantages in maneuverability and performs steadily in terms of firepower.

The Komodo frigate's prototype was the Explorer frigate, which was built around 710 AG (during the States Period in the later years of the Titan Empire). It was jointly developed by ""Free Hygara,"" a restoration group that had been forced into deep space due to Galactic War III, and the Spartan Rebellion, which was just as far away from its home. The resistance alliance needed an small, agile ship to shuttle between the various states of Titan Empire II for scouting missions.

The Explorer's onboard energy was almost entirely expended in the most powerful frigate propulsion system at the time, and so had to sacrifice its defense and weapon systems, making recon missions extremely risky. Across more than 30 years, researchers concentrated on how to add armor to it while maintaining speed, which led to the Komodo. This ship made great achievements in guerrilla strikes early on in Galactic War IV. More often than not it would locate the enemy's crucial fire-control areas, scout the enemy, and lure them into traps, making it the most reliable ally on the battlefield.

After the Spartan Restoration renamed to Neo-Europa, it began developing another upgrade for this ship that had outstanding performances in guerrilla combat. This upgrade included application of short-range warp technology—the Micropulse Wormhole Generator, which would use a transient warp field after warping to generate a dampening effect within a certain range.

After that, the Komodo frigate was equipped with an Adaptive Shield Boost Accelerator. Coordinating with the onboard power system intelligence, it allowed energy used to maintain shield resistances during combat to be shifted back into the shield rechargers after combat, allowing the ship to recover, thus increasing the ship's sustainability.

Today, this ship is praised by the Chairman of Star Harbor, Jean Baptiste Delon. According to materials revealed by interstellar hackers, this private transportation company, which also showed hints of being a felonious gang, was actually a multilateral espionage group in its early years. After all, what could make acts of espionage easier than having a transportation network that spanned the stars?
