The Gila frigate possesses extraordinary maneuverability and armor resistance, combining with its steady firepower it performs well as a heavy interceptor in battles.
Now, this ship is also equipped with Adaptive Shield Boost Accelerator and Micropulse Wormhole Generator, which imcrease the ship's survivability significantly. Comparing to the Komodo frigate, this ship has made improvements on processor capability and capacitor, increasing the compatability for new add-ons.
As far as history is concerned, the Gila and the Komodo frigates are technically from the same era—the Komodo was also in prototype stage while the Gila's development was carried out.
The death of the ""Golden Emperor"" Henriad in 828 AG signaled the end of Titan Empire II, the fragile balance among the states that he worked on gone in the wind. With the endless wars between states, Spatarn Rebellion managed to retrieve a proved heavy recon ship blueprint from Hygara, which was split by Svarus and the Dawn at the time. Although they were in alliance with Free Hygara and had their own development team, it's cruicial to have the ship for mass production as soon as possible facing the restoration chance that could come any time. And there is nothing faster than just taking the blueprint as it was. The developers made a few modifications to the blueprint and applied it on the Gecko frigate prototype. That was the initial Gila frigate.
The Gila frigate is now a part of the New-Europan old arms upgrading project. The new model maintains the Gila's original tactical role and has improvements on the weapon system, propulsion system and armor resistance based on expanded capacitor and processor capability.
Some illegal forces start to gain access to this ship in black market. For instance, the infamous terrorist group Oathtaker have tried to use this ship to attack harbors near Neo-Europan borders. Their leader claimed that they had got a lot of Gilas through ""special conduits"".
