As an upgrade to the Vanguard cruiser, the Gladiator cruiser maintains the role as an assault and disruption ship, performing stably on the battlefield. With excellent maneuverability and electronic compatibility, the Gladiator works well with firepower ships and they can form an invincible force.
Nowadays, the Gladiator's processor capability and capacitor have been further improved, which allows upgraded devices and weapons to improve the ship's comprehensive ability on the battlefield.
The Gladiator project was established because of the Vanguard's outstanding performances during the Nessus conflict. This project was included in the ""Hammer"" program initiated in 1031 AG, and became one of the most important new-era ship upgrade projects.
When the Crowley Industrial Group was developing the Gladiator, they had the ship inherit the Vanguard's role on the battlefield. They decided to emphasize the ship's assault ability and interference ability, but they found that a decrease in firepower was inevitable when maximizing ship speed, as the energy supply to the weapons system must be cut at that moment. To make up for this defect, designers from the Crowley Industrial Group upgraded the weapons system by increasing damage in a single attack, and strengthened the armor's resistance to improve the ship's survivability in assault missions. Such a conservative plan was mocked by the Modine Industrial Group for a time, but then this design was proved to be a stable and reliable one after a number of drills.
The ship has a special disruptor, but the pilot needs accurate judgment to make full use of it. Moreover, it is recommended that the ship is equipped with a logistics ship when finding weak spots among enemies, so that its fragile armor would not explode under enemy attacks. The Gladiator cruiser can also work with an interception ship to quickly destroy targets.
The Gladiator is now mainly used in dangerous assault missions, but the pilot will choose suitable shields to make sure that the assault is not a suicide mission.
