The Hydra battleship is one of the more important projects from Eldorado's Third Military Research Institute in the last twenty years. As the upgrade of the Cerberus, it maintains its original battlefield role of providing heavy firepower and assault, and possesses absolute advantages when fighting alongside interception ships. This ship features certain upgrade to capacitor and processor capability, making the addition of new arms in the future possible.
Since the ship's weapon and propulsion systems require large amounts of energy to satisfy its assault role, researchers equipped the Hydra with a Behemoth reactor, so that extra modules could be equipped based on the pilot's needs. Meanwhile, improved energy efficiency has increased the energy supply to the weapons, thereby improving the ship's firepower output. As for the external armor, which is a tricky upgrade area for battleships, researchers from the Third Military Research Institute have applied a group-based laying method, and they laid the armor based on the various needs of hull regions with different functions in order to reduce induced drag on the propulsion system.
In recent years, the Hydra's underbelly has been equipped with an engine remnant-heat storage & conversion circuit, which uses the release of high-energy radiation from annihilation reactions to recharge the weapon system, thereby increasing firepower once the capacitor is replenished. On the top of the ship is an extendable cold change filter which absorbs deep space radiation and converts it into energy used by the weapon cooldown system. This works with the Gaussian Magnetic Force-Field Stabilizer to effectively reduce the base weapon cooldowns and save energy consumed by the weapon system.
Currently, as relations between Neo-Europa and the Oracle Empire gradually grow tenser, Hydra battleships and Citadel battleships can be seen side-by-side defending important hubs on the border. These mammoths are apparently working as a deterrent, as at the very least, border crossings have decreased over the years. This also serves as a support for the nationalism swirling in the undercurrents of Neo-Europa.
