Ship Background

The Blackbear frigate possesses outstanding maneuverability and agility, with balanced performance in armor and firepower. It's an excellent interceptor, and performs well when fighting with assault ships.

The prototype was created in 837 AG as a representative ship, ""Border Protector"", when Svarus started the L-36 arms project to prevent invasion from the ever-blooming Oracle Empire after its 4th political and religious conflict(i.e. the historical royal reform).

For that, the research institute was located in the Geonesia region and was subject to ownership controversies. The participating researchers included both Svarn and firm Deus Faith believers.

These researchers equipped the ship with an Oracle-esque representative Projectional Energy Disruptor Beam. This beam has unique wavelengths, and when pointed at a reactor, it disrupts its power output and extracts energy from it to recharge the ship's energy. This main turret effectively boosted the Border Protector's practicability, after which the ship was renamed Blackbear.

It's worth noting that the modification scheme caused discontent amid some Svarn nationalists, which was the reason they suffered persecution during the development of the Whinstone cruiser.

In 884 AG, these talented and strongly patriotic researchers increased the speed of the heavy interceptor Blackbear to the level of the firepower recon ship Pinecone, which was a major technological breakthrough. That series of modifications laid the ground for all Bear Claw frigates.

The Blackbear frigate now features a shield amplifier, which gains dynamic armor charges by absorbing the dissipated energy from operating weapons and components. When working with shield repairing devices, it provides fast shield recharging and improves this frigate's battlefield survivability greatly.

This ship is also a standard Svarn navy frigate.
