The Fir frigate is one of the most impressive ships developed by Svarus, presenting a delicate balance between cost and technology in the modern Svarn military industry.
As a successor of the Poplar frigate, the Fir also adopts a more ingenious design compared to its siblings in Svarus. While improving maneuverability, the ship can also be fitted with EM armor generators with flexible distribution.
Like the Poplar, the Fir is also equipped with 4 SA-N-9 ""Flame"" Experimental Antimatter Explosives Projectile Turrets. The railguns, which can launch special antimatter explosives wrapped with magnetic fields, work well with the Triggered Supercharge Accelerator to improve the main turrets' firepower.
The Fir inherits the Poplar's variable compression stern with an additional auxiliary engine, which ensures the Fir's agility in combat. When passing through meteorites, the pilot is not required to make preparations too early. In addition, the original power system is also upgraded, which makes the Fir faster than other frigates in Svarus. Now, the Fir's basic components require lower processor usage and energy, which provides more space for effective components and weapons. Such a design has gradually become a main trend.
The preceding changes grant the Fir considerable advantages in blitzes. Moreover, the slender forepart of the ship is equipped with an EM disruptor, which troubles enemy ships a lot. Therefore, the Fir is usually used as a heavy frigate to protect the target against enemies.
The Fir was once seen as an indication of where Svarn military technology is headed. After several attempts, these advantages could only be implemented on frigates due to the restriction of current technologies.
Due to the maneuverability and invisibility, frigates of this type are popular among plunderers in wormholes. It is said that a number of organizations are equipped with these frigates.
