Ship Background

The Blizzard destroyer's prototype was the Kuznetsov destroyer from Galactic War IV, which had been well-known for its high maneuverability. After Galactic War IV, the designers of the Republic got rid of the old hull design of the Kuznetsov, and applied its core technology to the upgrade of the Coldrain destroyer, completing the design of the Blizzard.

Around Galactic War IV, Svarus was influenced by Neo-Europa's emphasis on formation combat, hence its battle force was overly relied on the coordination of frigates and cruisers, and its defensive power was relied on frigates formation, resulting in high production and maintenance costs.

Since the combat style was contradictory to the Svarn Navy's emphasis on single-ship combat capability, the redesigned Blizzard destroyer had relatively powerful equipped arms. Even without frigates, it still possessed strong combat capability by itself, and this resulted in smaller combat formations, less maintenance costs, and better firepower support in small to medium galactic wars.

In the regional war of the Safonovo solar system between Oracle and Svarus, the task of assault and infiltration was taken on by the Blizzard, with the heavy interception ship Warbear carrying out covering duties.

Now, Winter Industrial Group and Udaloy's designers have worked together to equip the Blizzard with a vortex hedge cooldown system which enables ship components in operating in helping other devices cool down. This series of revamps has created a beneficial interaction between the main turrets and tactical components, resulting in a significant improvement to main turret efficiency and earning the Blizzard the name ""Star Ocean Predator"" ever since.

The Svarn navy made the decision to add the Blizzard destroyer to the significant arms list in 1001 AG, and issued a prohibition on its export. However, this series can still be seen on sale at high prices, which has been regarded as the work of Udaloy.
