As a successor of the Whinstone cruiser, the Corundum cruiser has advanced armor and high maneuverability among its siblings. Compared to the Whinstone cruiser, the more powerful firepower makes the Corundum a perfect cruiser for complicated tasks.
It is said that the Corundum cruiser was born during the 1st Great Military Industrial Development Period (902 AG - 910 AG) of Svarus. If that is true, this heavy disruption ship and the Whinstone cruiser were possibly developed during the same period, and it was natural for the Predation Shield Disintegrator Beam weapons to be used as the Corundum's main artillery.
It was in 943 AG when the Corundum officially debuted in the Svarn 46th fleet (formerly the fleet in old Hygara). At that time, Galactic War IV had just ended. Svarus, the Oracle Empire, the Economic Community of Dawn, and the United Solar Systems of Hygara, who desired its recovery, reached a deadlock over the distribution of regions. Svarn hoped the Corundum to be a deterrence that could bring them some advantages during the negotiation.
But the reality was just as Svarn General Leonid said, ""It was an impracticable illusion."" Of course, General Leonid was happy to accept these excellent cruisers. He more than once spoke highly of the Corundum's outstanding performances during border patrols.
The modern Corundum is an improved version that was developed in 1043 AG.
The ship structure adopts a compact design commonly used for Svarn ships. Defensive turrets and main turrets are set in the front of the ship, electronic devices are set in the middle, and the maneuvering system is set in the rear. This kind of structure works well with attack programs, and allows improved operation components and energy reaction systems.
These components provide the Corundum with more flexible arms selection than the Whinstone, providing space for high-tech components and weapons.
