The Overlord battlecruiser was designed as a firepower logistics ship, with steady firepower it's capable of serving as a core force on the battlefield. It usually grants a tactical advantage when fighting alongside interception or disruption ships.
The Overlord has gained substantial firepower advantages after being equipped with a Gaussian Magnetic Field Stabilizer, and its battlefield survivability improved with a recently redesigned core ship system. What's more, it has also gained good long-range firepower output by using a guerrilla auxiliary intelligence system.
The design of the Overlord dates back to late 860s AG, which is in the States Period (700 AG-890 AG) of the late Titan Empire II. Svarus drew up a conceptual scheme for a battlecruiser, which was probably derived from Hygara ruins. Svarus made a demand based on national strategic plans for 3 Svarn representative logistics battlecruisers to replace the old General Vergo battlecruiser, in case of possible turmoil.
The conceptual design included an expected speed of 600-700 m/s, 37 ship-defending turrents, 4 rotating main turrets, and 3 sets of core tactical components. This obviously ridiculous plan was called Project 1160, and was appointed to the TsKB-322 Nevskia Design Bureau led by Belegovsky B. Moline. This design failed, but it contributed to the Overlord prototype. To some extent, it made breakthroughs in firepower and armor technology compared to other Svarn battlecruisers of the same time.
The chief designer, Belegovsky, proposed a plan to develop an electronic capacitor expander to remodel the Overlord into an electronic ship, accommodating the 3 extra main turrets that wasn't possible before. His proposal was declined and laughed at as another Project 1160, but nobody could imagine that this proposal would ultimately lead to the development of the Stribog battlecruiser in 5 years.
