The Surge battleship was actually from the same era as the Wrath battleship, which was 910s AG, and both ships appeared in Galactic War IV. Because the Vortex battleship had been put into use and performed well, the continued development of Surge seemed irrelevant. Hence the development was limited to both technological conditions and available resources.
But when Galactic War IV heated up in 923 AG, after numerous battles, the Vortex battleship began to seem inadequate for the ever-expanding campaigns. What's more, the compatibility problem caused by the limited capacitor and processor capability started to become a real issue, so the development of the Surge was finally set on track.
The fifth generation of Svarn military mechanical designers put everything they had into building the Surge. The gigantic railguns it uses make its firepower a real deterrence on the battlefield, as no battleship would like to engage in a skirmish against it. When the railguns hit a target, a second explosion will be induced. Even if the opponent manages to escape the first hit, there is no chance they'll dodge the second explosion. Of course, the second explosion has such a big area of effect that any enemy ships nearby are unlikely to survive, either. What's more surprising is, that with such a heavy firepower package, it still possesses spare processor capability and capacity, making it a firm shield for allies.
However, a battleship of this class comes with its inevitable shortcoming—speed, which makes it extremely vulnerable to sieges. That's when allied support is crucial.
Even so, the heavy armor and extraordinary customization potential makes the Surge stand out among the battleships.
Although it doesn't differ much from the appearances of the traditional Svarn Vortex battleships, the overlapping railguns installed on its sides grant great firepower advantages and make it virtually invincible in assault battles. But designers had to give up the pursuit of speed for heavy firepower, which makes the Surge move too slowly to be used in agile blitz battles, but a great choice for concentrated fire.
